At the Tech & Learning Leadership Summit outside of Washington, D.C., on February 24, 2023, district administrators will share ideas, best practices, and solutions to help to reshape and reimagine the future of education. The event takes place at the Adele H. Stamp Student Union in College Park, MD.
The event will kick off with a keynote from ISTE CEO Richard Culatta, who will discuss his vast experience in education policy and teacher preparation, and share his thoughts on the future of education and how the recent merger of ISTE and ASCD will bring together professional development resources and events that support the effective integration of pedagogy and technology.
Attendees will then have the opportunity to participate in small group discussions on topics including:
Equity & Access: We know that “equity” is not just about installing the newest, shiniest gadgets, but maximizing and creatively using the broad range of available technologies to support the entire learning community. How are you working to ensure every student receives equitable access to technology and resources?
Rethinking Traditional Class Schedules & Learning Spaces: How are districts adapting to offer more flexible learning time and space? How have you changed – or are working to change – traditional class schedules.
Addressing Staff Pipeline and Shortages: What are your creative solutions to addressing staffing issues and shortages while offering more opportunities for students?
Supporting Student & Teacher Wellbeing: How do you ensure all of your students are recognized for the strengths they bring with them to school each day?
Data Privacy & Cyber Security: This session will cover how districts keep data private and secure. What do districts have in place to support these efforts? What resources are available to schools?
Preparing Students for the Future: How can schools support the needed “soft skills” for students facing undefined future careers? How can we better measure and assess skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, leadership, and creativity?
The closing keynote will be presented by Keith Krueger, CEO of the Consortium for School Network (CoSN), who will present an interactive session on PD opportunities and insights for district administrators, including highlights of the CoSN Framework of Essential Skills, which features the national Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL), special needs of Early Career leaders, and data from CoSN’s national survey on the backgrounds of district tech leaders.
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony, during which the winners of the Tech & Learning Innovative Leader awards will be announced. Nominate yourself or a colleague for this award by January 16, 2023 here.
